What experts are saying:

Consultants reported the shade selection and colour match were very good. Although the thicker vicosity makes it somewhat difficult to extrude, ProFil is very easy to use and stays where placed with no slumping. Consultants reported that it was easy to finish and polish. Blending with natural tooth colour, as well as final polish and esthetics are very good.

High filler content and elasticity modulus guarantee that post-op strain and cracks do not easily occur in restorations. Larger size and higher number of filler particles in hybrid composite resin improve the mechanism of crack pinning and crack deflection and result in a higher fracture toughness.

Dental Products Report comments it has been great in terms of eliminating postop discomfort and sensitivity related to posterior restorations. The product’s low polymerization shrinkage, high resistance to wear and high strength makes it a very good choice for deep, wide Class II restorative resin in posterior teeth.

How does it handle in your hands?

For me as a dentist, one big challenge with composite resin material is its stickiness to operative instruments, which leads to pull back of the resi before light curing. I have seldom experienced this problem with Silmet ProFil micro nano resin. This allows me to place the filling in less time, with easier sculpting and to get exceptional results.

Another great feature of this product is its texture, which allows it to be polished very easily with any type of composite finishing/polishing burs/disks/paste in such a short amount of time. Additionally, polishing powder residue does not stick to the surface of tooth enamel and is easily lifted by water rinse, which leads to a cleaner, smoother polished surface.

Why should clinicians try this?

Throughout the years that I have followed my patients’ composite restorations during routine biannual oral exams, the Silmet ProFil resin restorations have kept their integrity, strength, shade, sealed margins, had no staining, and above all, have led to patient satisfaction and comfort.
